A Georgia prosecutor filed a motion on Thursday moving up a proposed trial date for Donald Trump and his allies to October in the sprawling case accusing the former president and more than a dozen other defendants of election interference.
Fani Willis, the Atlanta district attorney who brought the case against Trump, initially proposed that the trial begin on March 4, landing squarely in the middle of Trump’s other trial dates amid a busy legal calendar for the former president heading into the 2024 election. But after Kenneth Chesebro, a former Trump attorney and fellow defendant, filed a request for a speedy trial this week, Willis requested that the court set the trial to begin for “all 19 defendants” in just two months.
“Without waiving any objection as to the sufficiency of Defendant Kenneth John Chesebro’s filing, the State requests that this Court specially set the trial in this case to commence on October 23, 2023,” Willis wrote in the filing, noting that the date falls within the next court term, in accordance with Georgia criminal code.
Analysts have noted that even the initial March timeline for the trial to get underway is improbable, with a lengthy period of pre-trial motions expected to delay proceedings. Already a number of defendants have motioned to remove the case to federal court, in the first examples of pre-trial delays. But a trial set to begin in just a matter of weeks appears nearly impossible.
The indictment, which was handed up by a Georgia grand jury earlier this month, accuses Trump and his allies of orchestrating a criminal enterprise to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election. Trump is expected to surrender on Thursday to Fulton County authorities for booking.
Trump faces trials in New York in a case in which he stands accused of paying hush money to a porn star and in federal court in Florida on charges he mishandled classified documents. Those cases are currently scheduled to begin on March 25 and May 20. And if things go prosecutors’ way in the election conspiracy case brought by Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith, Trump would face another trial in the nation’s capital in early January.
。    The latest promo of Pharma, the upcoming web series headlined by Nivin Pauly, is now out and it sets the tone with a calm but pointed monologue. In the clip, Nivin appears as KP Vinod, a medical representative who speaks directly to the viewer. He begins with something familiar: a simple painkiller. Vinod notes that the tablet may offer temporary relief, yet its long-term effects often go unexamined. His delivery is easy and conversational, but the ideas land with weight.     He then shifts to a scene most people have experienced. A chemist recommends two ounces of cough syrup, even though the body might only need one. Vinod points out that the extra dose has little to do with medical necessity. It ensures the bottle empties faster. The example is small but clear in illustrating how commercial thinking enters everyday medical routines.Vinod follows this with a question about the numbers on medicine strips. Who decided on two hundred milligrams or five hundred milligrams. He reminds viewers that countless substances enter the body through medication and that we rarely pause to ask what they contain. The promo frames this thought alongside another question that Vinod delivers with a quiet challenge. Do we examine our medicines with the same care we apply to the food we eat or the products we use.As the video reaches its final seconds, Vinod acknowledges that his words may upset people. He shrugs it off and closes with a line that reflects the mindset of the world he belongs to. He then clips on his identity badge, a gesture that hints at the routine nature of such thinking in his profession.                                         The series, its focus and its ensemblePharma is positioned as a social drama that looks at the pharmaceutical sector through the daily experiences of KP Vinod. The show intends to examine how professionals in this field handle pressure, hit targets and navigate the ethics of their work. The new promo mirrors this idea by letting Vinod guide the viewer through the grey areas he encounters. The series comes from director PR Arun. Production wrapped last year and the first season is expected to run for six to eight episodes. It will stream on JioHotstar. The creative team includes editor Sreejith Sarang and cinematographer Abhinandan Ramanujam, with Jakes Bejoy composing the music and score. The cast brings together Nivin Pauly in the lead role along with Shruti Ramachandran, Narain and Veena Nandakumar. The show also marks the Malayalam return of Rajit Kapur, who was last seen in the language nearly 25 years ago in Agnisakshi.                                                                 View this post on Instagram          A post shared by JioHotstar Malayalam (@jiohotstarmalayalam)                         For Nivin, Pharma follows his earlier direct to digital release Kanakam Kaamini Kalaham. While that film marked his transition into streaming premieres, Pharma serves as his debut in the web series format. The promo presents KP Vinod as someone who knows the workings of his industry and understands how sentiment is often pushed aside in favour of business. With this promo, the team behind Pharma chooses clarity over spectacle. By centring the video entirely on Vinod’s explanation of how medicines reach consumers, they signal a series that wants to raise questions rather than offer easy comfort. Also Read: Nivin Pauly Completes First Leg of Benz Shoot and Signals a Fierce Arrival in The LCU。
